It is roughly 60 days until my 60th birthday and 60 days until I head back to my favorite continent – Africa! After previously visiting amazing African destinations including Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Egypt, and Morocco, I became hooked on Africa and started adding more destinations to my bucket list. Next up is Tanzania where hopefully I’ll get to see some of the Great Migration where zebras, antelopes, and millions of wildebeests journey from the Serengeti in the south to the Masai Mara in Kenya to the north. Check out the Serengeti National Park link to learn more about the key seasons of this circle of life. I am also excited to take a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, which I am sure will be an incredibly memorable experience.
Tanzania’s northern circuit is among the most famous safari journeys in Africa. In addition to Serengeti National Park, the circuit typically includes a visit to Ngorongoro Crater, home to highest density of big game in Africa, and the world’s largest volcanic caldera. Lake Manyara National Park, famous for flocks of flamingos, tree climbing lions, and baboons is also part of the circuit.
Tarangire National Park on the other hand is famous for its giant baobab trees that can live up to six hundred years along with impressive herds of elephants.
Although I do not have enough time on this trip, on my next trip back to Africa, trekking with chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains and spending some time relaxing on the spice island of Zanzibar will definitely be on the list!
