So, what are Digital Nomads and the “Bleisure Market?

According to Upwork, by 2025, an estimated 32.6 million Americans (22%) will work remotely with 98% of all workers wanting some form of remote work opportunity.

Digital nomads are workers who earn a living online while working from various remote locations vs from a brick-and-mortar office building. Successful nomads rely on technology, the internet, and are typically “knowledge-based” workers – think copy writers, social media influencers, etc.

This shift in work location has opened up a booming sector of the travel industry along with Wi-Fi Tribes, communities of nomads who live and work together. Destinations that embody work- life balance, have robust technology, offer tax breaks for digital nomads, along with a relatively low cost of living are attracting more and more nomads.  Think Costa Rica, Mexico, Croatia, Spain, Portugal.

Similarly, the blending of business and leisure trips known as Blended Travel or Bleisure Travel, is also rapidly gaining market share. An increasing number of travelers, particularly affluent travelers, are adding leisure travel on to a scheduled business trip. Destinations and properties that can accommodate both the business and leisure needs of the Blended Traveler for longer periods of time are in high demand… think upscale villas such as Villas of Distinction   and hotel properties who offer value for longer stays.  Marriott for example, offers a variety of extended-stay options to help keep travelers productive and comfortable while on the road.

Your travel advisor can help you find the perfect property to meet your blended travel needs!
